Today was such a lazy day for me, but very enjoyable! I rolled out of bed around 9am when Jackson was ready to go outside and then I headed straight back under the covers until 11! I did some laundry and posted a few online discussion postings for my classes. Around 3 I was getting hungry so I decided to try Jamie Oliver's recipe for chicken nuggets that he demonstrated on Oprah last Friday. They were super easy (combine bread crumbs, fresh parsley, lemon zest, and garlic in the food processor, coat nugget sized portions of chicken in egg then in bread crumb mixture and fry in a lil olive oil!) and they turned out pretty tasty!
After I felt satiated, I decided to head to the bookstore (which I love to do any day!) First I hit up Half-Price books to see what I could find. I spent about an hour browsing the books in the cooking, education, Christian living, and crafting sections. I had in mind one certain book that I would like to find and it wasn't there so I headed to Barnes and Noble. I found the book there and headed for the checkout. But I couldn't leave without a caramel macchiato, which I drank on ice for the first time since the cold weather began! (It is very rare that I order something different than the caramel macchiato... but the weather determines if it's hot or on ice.) Then on my way from the Starbucks counter to the exit, I spotted a table of "New Non-Fiction" and couldn't help myself from stopping. I saw the new Chelsea Handler book which I think would be pretty funny but decided I didn't need it! Then I spotted on the other side of the table "The Happiness Project" by Gretchen Rubin. It is the story of a New York wife and and mother that has decided to focus on finding happiness through a systematic approach of making and keeping resolutions to better herself throughout one year. I read a short excerpt and found it all too appealing for me to pass up so I headed back to the checkout and told the lady that "I found one more!"
When I got home I decided that I wanted to take a bath and get started on my new book! I ran my bath with my aromatherapy bubble bath from Bath&Body Works (that I've been addicted to for nearly two years). And grabbed my caramel macchiato to sip on. Everything seemed just right so I slipped in...
Well evidently I slept wrong last night or maybe hurt myself in tumbling the other day because all day there has been pain around my right shoulder blade bothering me. So when I got into my bath I just wasn't comfortable... I needed a pillow. Yes, that's right I wanted a pillow to rest my back on while I was in the bathtub. Since I don't own a bath pillow, I sacrificed one of the five $4 pillows that I purchased my freshman year at college when I was feeling homesick (and evidently felt that pillows would make it better!) But I must say... with the pillow the bath was perfect.
I read a chapter from my book and then I was hungry again! :) I hopped out to make me some scrambled eggs and then cuddled up in bed to read some more . But for the 2nd night in a row, I've forgotten to feed Jackson. I'm lucky that my precious dog doesn't hesitate to let me know when he's hungry. Just as soon as I was all comfortable... I hear his food bowl being scooted around the kitchen. So I got him fed, then back to my book! But then mom called! We chatted for a little while about hotel reservations for parent's weekend and then finally I was back to my book! And here comes Jackson... he wants to go outside! At this point, I decided to do some schoolwork before trying to get back into my book!
But needless to say, I really like the book thus far. It's full of her routinely mundane but unique daily experiences that are enlightening and inspiring.
