getting in the spirit...

the Valentine spirit that is!

Today I came across this awesome valentine cookie recipe after a good friend had pinned it onto pinterest. I knew this recipe was going to help me get into the Valentine spirit so I got to work on these little guys just as soon as I saw the pin!

I got the recipe from HERE. It has very detailed instructions plus a video.  But I was so anxious to get going that I just printed the short version and got to work. I would recommend reading what they have to say. (I made my dough too smooth.)

And this right here is what you call a little bit of Valentine magic:

That's right... that chocolate chip wanted to be heart so it went right on ahead and turned into one!

So as cute as they are,  they are not very tasty. They taste a lot like butter.
But I'm not giving up! I will try again!

Dinner Pinspiration

I love when I find recipes on Pinterest that I already have the ingredients for! That happened last week when I spotted these:

We also had some bacon and cream cheese in the fridge so I threw that in there too since we were about to head out of town for Thanksgiving and needed to clean out the fridge!

Easy shmeasy and super yummy! Added to list of fast and cheap dinners!

Boudain is calling my name... literally!

Last month, Chalon requested boudin for dinner. I had never had it before and honestly wasn't really looking forward to it! But I looked for it on my trip to Wal-Mart and it was there! So that night I made it and was surprised that I really liked it!

So last week I was at the store and thought it would be a nice surprise to bring home some more boudin to make for dinner. This time I was at HEB and look what I found...

That's right! Hollar Brand Boudin!

There were a few other choices but of course I went with the one that had my name written all over it!
