It's a New Year!

So I'm about two weeks late, but better late than never... right??

Chalon and I brought in the New Year with Richard and Ashley and homemade party hats
here in College Station!

Last year one of my New Year's Resolutions was to create this blog. I'm so glad that I was successful. I imagined writing in it more often but at 63 posts this year, I feel like I have certainly been successful. My intentions were to record memories and I have done that!

This year I want to continue my blog and I hope to include the fulfillment of my main goal for this year... to get my first real job! I will graduate from college in May and hope to be teaching in my own classroom by the new school year beginning in August.

Another goal of mine is to begin gardening. I'm not sure that my attempts will be successful but if I fail, I'll have learned something and will try again! I actually began tonight.

For Christmas, my dad gave me some great things for getting my garden started. Tonight, I put together the garden box that was one of the gifts!
It still lacks soil and plants, but I was proud of myself for getting it all put together!

So another gift was a seed starter kit. I got the little greenhouses all set up and planted some lettuce, beans, scallions, and cucumbers to begin germinating.

I also bought some veggies from the store in case my germinating seeds don't work! I planted a few in containers until I get my garden box ready to go.

I am certainly open to advice, if you would like to share any! :)

Honestly, at this time last year, I was much more ambitious. I was much more excited about the year ahead with a list full of things I wanted to accomplish. This year, I am sort of nervous about the year to come. It is full of big events and changes. I am doing my best to slow down and simplify before taking on new challenges and a new phase of my life. This year, my mantra is simply, "simplify." I hope that I can look at different areas of my life and find ways to reduce stress and reduce the rush. I am ready to slow and savor each and every day with it's simplicities. I am ready to find enjoyment in simplicity. :)
