My mom has been in College Station for the past few days and we have had a lot of fun just doing what we do... antique browsin', moving furniture, buying furniture, watching movies, eating good food, and just hanging out! I am so happy I got to spend some of my Spring Break with her doing nothing more than just enjoying ourselves!
In one of the shops we stopped into, there was a shadowbox-on-a-stick type thing. I really liked it but it was pretty pricey! So we headed over to Michaels to get a shadowbox so we could make our own.
I picked up this shadowbox for less than $10 and had the candlestick at home.
I would have liked it to be black or white, but the only spray paint I had was silver and since the box was conveniently silver, I went with it! (I can always go back and paint it again!)
Then I used this handy dandy Dollar Store tape to add some Spring embellishments to the inside of the box!
And Voila!.... My very own shadowbox-on-a-stick!

This was the start of my Spring "mantel". I added a few of our finds from the antique shops this weekend to complete the look! It's kind of modge podge, but I kinda like it that way! :)
One of my favorite things up there is this little butterfly in a jar:

It's a pretend butterfly in a jar that flutters and flies as if it is real! Here is a little video about how it works:
I love butterflies so I think this is super cool! I got mine at Walgreens but they are also available on line, here.
Happy Spring!

Love your shadow box up on on the candle stick!.. Awesome idea!..
