Well I made it home from Lubbock on Sunday. Every time I have flown home from Lubbock I have been randomly selected to by frisked... quite awkward! I'm not sure what makes them think I'm a criminal... but there must be something! I had a great time with Mom and Bella and all the Lubbock gals.
We had a great time on St Patrick's Day which was also Chelsie's 21st birthday! (woo hoo!) Then mom and I enjoyed quite a few movies together... The Hangover, Chocolat, The Bounty Hunter, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, and She's out of My League (which was great!) I read on the plane that watching movies increases your quality of life... so we should be doing pretty good! Then later in the week we visited Louie Louie's Piano Bar which I think is so much fun! We had a great time.
But I must say that I did far too little last week while I was there. I am having a very hard time getting things done this week, I'm dragging!
I realized over the break how much I really like my routine. I loved being on a mini vacation and especially with my mom. But toward the end of the week I really missed my dog, roommates, neighbors, friends, bed, and even my classes a lil!
On Monday night, Dancing With the Stars premiered. I have never watched the show before but this season's cast was quite intriguing. My favorites are Erin Andrews and Pamela Anderson! They were both really fun and brought good dancing to the table. Oh yeah and I like Niecy Nash but she has some room for improvement! Sure, there are others that capture my interest but they better not win, like Kate Gosselin and Jake Pavelka. Also quite entertaining is Buzz Aldrin but he was so bad it was hard to watch. Don't worry though... Reagan sent in two pity votes for him! :)
Today in tumbling we got to play on the gymnastic apparatuses. It was so fun! Uneven bars, balance beam, rings, parallel bars, palma horse... I loved it! And I even practiced my back handspring! But I must say that I did fall off the balance beam while attempting a cartwheel on it. It wasn't too big of a deal since it's surrounded with mats, but I did scrape my leg up pretty good!
I met with my advisor today. He kept calling me a senior because I have 91 hours but I insisted that I was a junior! Being called a senior makes me feel like I'm leaving soon. But I still have a full year of college left to enjoy and I don't like feeling like I'm being cut short! We planned out the rest of my coursework for my college career. It's always so encouraging to go talk with him about what all I've completed and the little I have yet to do. Well it only looks like a little on paper... still plenty of hard work.
I've begun looking into different programs to earn a Masters of Education. I am very interested in pre-reading skills as well as the systematic approaches to teaching children to read. I hope I can find a program where I can earn a degree with a reading specialization.
